The PLCs for academic year 2015-16 were:

Blended Learning

Blended Learning with Nakia S. Pope, Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence

Blended Learning is typically understood to be learning in which part of the face to face instruction is replaced by online learning. It goes by many other names – hybrid courses, mixed mode learning – but the idea is the digital technology replaces or enhances some face-to-face time. That’s nice, but what does that mean? Why would I want to move anything online? What should I move online? How do I do it? This PLC explores Blended Learning, focusing on questions of course design and available digital tools for creating engaging learning opportunities. Participation includes group attendance in the Teaching Professor Technology Conference, October 2-4, New Orleans, Louisiana

Synchronous Learning in a Digital Environment

Synchronous Learning in a Digital Environment with Peggy Semingson, LINK Research Lab

Create real-time teaching scenarios where the active learning happens in real time! This professional learning community will focus on synchronous learning (e.g., videoconferencing and instant messenger chat); using it in digital contexts has the power to facilitate personalized and engaged learning for students and teacher(s). Learn best practices and build confidence for managing the virtual “real time” classroom experience. Participation includes group attendance in the Teaching Professor Technology Conference, October 2-4, New Orleans, Louisiana

For additional information contact the facilitator of each group. See the 2015-16 PLC Fellows Page for more information on each group.
