Instructional Goal

Students will design an exercise plan based on personal analysis.  Students will explore web sites with information about exercise plans.  Students will use information gained to design a personal exercise plan.

First Level Task Analysis

1.  Learn about exercise plans
2.  Complete online goal setting lesson
3 .  Complete exercise plan
4 .  Analyze peer’s exercise plan
5 .  Revise exercise plan

Domain of Learning

The type of objective for the overall learning goal for this instructional lesson is verbal and intellectual.  Learner will learn facts about how to create exercise plans and how to set appropriate goals, and then the learners will use these facts to create a personal exercise goal.  Students will also use intellectual skills to analyze a peer’s plan and then revise their own plan based on per input.  This lesson also sets-up for some psychomotor skills that will be accomplished between this lesson and the next one

Peer Evaluation

The goal statement was review by a peer who has experience in the field of health education studies.  She has been teaching both adults and children for the past few years.  As for education, my peer has a graduate degree in health education.  My peer was able to somewhat follow the first level task analysis of my lesson.  She suggested that I add something about goal setting in to this lesson.  We decided upon using a web site that has a good online lesson about setting goals.  She also suggested that students should review a peer’s exercise plan instead of their own, so that way they could get another person’s input.  My peer felt that students at the high school level don’t always have the ability to see the weaknesses in their own plans.
