Lesson 11: Create a Web Page
Lesson 12 »

Instructional Goal

Students will create a peer assistance group/site to help distribute alternative media messages.  An analysis of web sites will help students determine which message they want to write an alternate for.  Students will create a web page using an Assignment tool.

First Level Task Analysis

1. Create web page concept
2. Design web page
3. Create web page

Domain of Learning

The type of objective for the overall learning goal for this instructional lesson is intellectual.  Learner will follow procedures to create a web page designed to be a peer assistance tool.  This page will expose the inappropriate messages in the online advertising of drugs or alcohol, and present an alternate message for one of the exposed messages.

Peer Evaluation

The goal statement was review by a peer who has experience in the field of health education studies.  She has been teaching both adults and children for the past few years.  As for education, my peer has a graduate degree in health education.  My peer was able to follow the first level task analysis of my lesson.  This lesson is really a continuation of the last one, so my peer was pleased with the way this series of lessons was created.  This lesson was originally designed to be group work, but after discussing this with my peer, she felt that the lesson would produce better results if this was an individual project.  Students at this age may be easily influenced by peers to make this project more of a joke if they are in groups.
