Sabrina Habib, MFA, Ph.D.
I was born in 1976 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and moved to New Jersey in 1995. A year later I transferred to the University of Florida, where I completed a BFA in photography, which was followed by a MFA in electronic media at the University of Florida. While working on my masters I opened a commercial imaging production studio in Gainesville, FL to service advertising clients, local businesses, and individuals. In parallel to the commercial work I developed an extensive fine art exhibition record. The studio was very successful, but as it blossomed I grew increasingly interested in academia.
In 2010, I enrolled in the Ph.D. program in the College of Journalism and Communications at the University of Florida, my dissertation explored the effects of technology on the advertising creative process. I joined the faculty at the University of Texas at Arlington in the fall of 2013 as a tenure-track assistant professor.

Title: Qualitative Video Data Collection and Analysis
Abstract:
Video recorded interviews/observations offer a rich source of data. It provides both traditional audio data, and visual capture of participant’s body language, context, and setting. The technical aspect of conducting research using video data can be intimidating for a researcher who has not been exposed to non-linear editing software or equipment. Through a mix of interviews, memos, and researcher practical experience, I will provide insight into the conceptual, practical, and organizational methods for a qualitative approach to analysis of video data.
