Matt Crosslin
Matt served as Instructional Designer at UTA’s own Center for Distance Education for several years. He has a background in teaching at both the secondary and university levels and has been an active blogger and conference presenter. His favorite areas of expertise include instructional design, emerging technologies, open learning, sociocultural theory, heutagogy, and networked learning. He also enjoys networking and collaborative efforts involving faculty, students, administration, or anyone involved in the education process. Before coming to UTA he worked in innovative learning centers as well as forward thinking education companies that looked to expand the limits of formal and informal learning. Crosslin holds a Master of Education in Educational Technology from UT Brownsville and is currently working on a Ph.D. in Learning Technologies from the University of North Texas.

Title: Planning for a Successful MOOC
Abstract:
This roundtable discussion will focus on recent tales from the front lines of MOOC design, development, implementation and evaluation. The facilitator, Matt Crosslin, served as the lead designer of the Data, Analytics, and Learning (DALMOOC) offered through UT Arlington’s LINK Lab in the Fall of 2014. Topics to be discussed will include: content quality issues, technology issues to be aware of, limitations and possibilities of MOOCs, participant engagement through social media outlets, and dual layer / multiple pathways approach to MOOC design. Are you currently offering a MOOC? Do you think you might be called upon to create a MOOC in the future? Are you just curious about what MOOCs look like behind the scenes? Participants at all levels of experience are welcome to ask questions and contribute ideas and concerns.
