Instructional Goal with Performance Context

Goal: Students will analyze personal eating habits to identify areas for improvement.

Given a survey of eating habits (CN), learners will be able to demonstrate the ability to complete the survey and use the results to create a personal nutrition plan (B). They will complete a calendar with at least three activities per week for a four week period minimum (CR).

1.  Learning about eating habits

Given a list of websites about eating habits (CN), learners will be able to determine personal eating habits (B).  The learner will use this information to complete the survey (CR).

2.  Completing MyPyramid Worksheet

Given a MyPyramid Worksheet (CN), learners will be able to answer the questions presented on the worksheet (B).  The learner will answer all questions on the worksheet (CR).

3.  Analyze personal eating habits

Given the results of the nutrition survey (CN), learners will be able to analyze the results to identify areas of improvement in their eating habits (B).   The learner will create a list of improvements needed and select one to focus on (CR).

4.   Analyze partner’s eating habits

Given the results of the nutrition survey and a peer’s selected focus (CN), learners will be able to provide feedback about that peer’s survey (B).   The learner will provide at least one comment about their partner’s survey and choice (CR).

5.  Goal setting lesson

Given a website with a lesson about setting goals (CN), learners will be able to determine which goals are appropriate for their exercise plan (B).  The learner will incorporate knowledge into personal lesson plan (CR).

6.  Create personal nutrition plan

Given the results of a personal nutrition analysis and a calendar tool (CN), learners will be able to create a plan to increase personal nutrition (B).   The learner will create a nutrition plan based on this analysis (CR).
