Instructional Goal with Performance Context

Goal: Students will state facts about body weight and determine appropriate body weight based on age and body composition.

Given a set of questions to answer (CN), learners will be able to demonstrate the ability to complete an Internet search for the answers to those questions (B). They will complete blog entries that will be evaluated for facts contained, and realistic determination of body type. (CR).

1. Register for Moolde account

Given instructions and guidance (CN), learners will be able to create a personal Moodle account (B).  The learner will be able to access the online content for these lessons (CR).

2.  Searching for facts

Given a demonstration of search techniques (CN), learners will be able to search the Internet for facts about body weight (B).  The learner will complete a worksheet of questions (CR).

3.  Finding appropriate sites

Given a list of examples (CN), learners will be able to determine which Internet sites are credible and valid (B).  The learner will obtain facts from only appropriate sites for answers on the worksheet (CR).

4.  Recording facts

Given a worksheet (CN), learners will be able to record facts found on the Internet (B).   The learner will complete a worksheet of questions (CR).

5.  Determining body type

Given a list of examples (CN), learners will be able to determine their appropriate body type (B).  The learner will create a blog entry documenting their appropriate body type (CR).

6. Creating blog entry

Given a blog tool (CN), learners will be able to record insights into lessons learned for this activity (B).   The learner will complete blog entries that will be evaluated for facts contained and substantial insights into body composition (CR).
