Before the Lesson:
Prepare a short presentation on how exercise plans can be tailored to fit any body type and any lifestyle. Some students may not be familiar with the term analyze, so preparing a short explanation or example of what that means may be helpful. Also, be prepared to answer questions related to lesson content.

Instructional Steps:
1.  Presentation on how exercise plans can be tailored to fit any body type and any lifestyle. Optional presnetation on how to analyze.
2.  Learn about exercise plans – learners will visit a set of websites designated by the instructor to learn about exercise plans.
3.  Complete online goal setting lesson – learners will complete an online lesson about setting achievable and specific goals.
4.  Complete exercise plan – learners will select some exercise activities to add to their routine.  They will then use a calendar tool in Moodle to schedule these events, and to print off a copy of the calendar for one month.
5.  Analyze peer’s exercise plan – learners will then trade exercise plans with a partner for analysis.  Learners will determine if the goals on the exercise plan are realistic and achievable, and then will make recommendations for change.
6.  Revise exercise plan – learners will make changes to personal exercise plans based on feedback from peers.

Overview:

Pre-instructional Activities:
The lesson will begin with a motivational activity to gain the learner’s interest.  The activity will begin with a short presentation on how exercise plans can be tailored to fit any body type and any lifestyle. The process of analyzing will also be introduced, if needed.

Content Presentation:
After the learners are logged in to the class, the rest of the activity is self-guided.  Learners will be guided through a set of web sites that will teach them about exercise plans and goal setting.  Questions about goal setting need to be directed back to the online lessons.

Learner Participation:
The learner will guide themselves through web sites and online lessons.  Learners will then create an exercise plan and enter the dates for the plan on the calendar tool.  Learners will also trade plans with a partner for review and analysis.  After reviewing and analyzing a partner’s exercise plan, learners will get their plan back.  They can then update their plan as needed.

Assessment:
The learner will demonstrate to the instructor that he/she is successful by completing a calendar containing the steps of his or her exercise plan.

Post-Instructional Activities
Learners will follow their exercise plan.  They will be evaluating how well this plan worked in the next lesson.

Grading Rubric:

100 Points Possible

Students will turn in a printout of the calendar they have created.  This calendar must have at least three activities per week for a four week period (minimum).  Deduct 8 points for each missing activity.
