Lesson 5: FDA Research
Lesson 6 »

Instructional Goal

Students will research FDA food guidelines to understand recommended daily allowances and how they relate to quality of life.  Students will explore the FDA website to gain understanding of food guidelines.  Students will use information gained to create a blog entry about nutrition and quality of life.

First Level Task Analysis

1.  Search for facts
2.  Find appropriate sites
3.  Record facts
4.  Document information about nutrition and quality of life

Domain of Learning

The type of objective for the overall learning goal for this instructional lesson is verbal.  Learners will be searching a web site for facts about eating and dietary guidelines as published by the government.  These guidelines tend to be extensive, so this lesson will only need to be verbal.

Peer Evaluation

The goal statement was review by a peer who has experience in the field of health education studies.  She has been teaching both adults and children for the past few years.  As for education, my peer has a graduate degree in health education.  My peer was able to follow the first level task analysis of my lesson.  This is another basic level lesson, where the students are just looking for facts, so there really wasn’t that much to change about it.
