The fast-paced, break neck speed of remodeling has continued this weekend – we are cleaning out the back room even! The french doors are finally in place and all the molding is up. The kitchen back-splash is done and we actually have handles on all our drawers! The promised newsletter is still coming. We have it ready, we just need to stop remodeling enough to sit down and send it out.

A Time For Change
Our new newsletter is up, with the big news in it. If you don’t have the password to see it, we will be sending it out soon, along with a text version of the newsletter. We spent the weekend making more progress on the house. The laundry room finally has a new floor, and a lot more of the molding has been finished in the front bedroom and the back living room.
The Remodeling Journals: Whittling Away at the Taping and Floating
We are still whittling away at the taping and floating. Maybe we will finish the kitchen by summer. We have also been doing a lot of clean up and decorating. After a year being here, we needed to finish unpacking 🙂
The Remodeling Journals: Moving on to Windows and Back Splashes
We are still working slowly on our kitchen. We now have blinds, a window sill, and some back splash ideas. Just got to get working. Our puppy found a way to climb her gate and escape, so we got one of those pre-made sections of tall wood fencing and foiled her little plot! Someday it will be made into an actual gate… we hope.
The Remodeling Journals: Taping, Floating, Wall-Papering, Oh My!
We did some taping and floating last weekend – that stuff is really hard. Don’t ever want to do that again. We also finally found good wallpaper for the walls. Should be in the last stretches of finishing the kitchen 🙂 We also finally unpacked the last boxes in our back room!
The Remodeling Journals: Finding Wall Paper
Now we’ve hit the road block of finding a wall paper that we like for the walls… we have looked in a lot of places, but there is nothing that fits “just right”.
The Remodeling Journals: Kitchen Floor is Almost Done for Real This Time
We finally got to grout our kitchen floor this weekend. We are getting very close to having that room DONE. We are still looking for a doggie sitter for our puppy over Thanksgiving – any takers? She’s reaalllllyyyy cute…
The Remodeling Journals: Off-Color Tiles and Piney Woods
We haven’t worked much on the house this week due to a retreat. We did break out two tiles that were slightly off-colored and replaced them, but that is about it. We had a pretty good retreat, even though it was cold and we had to sleep in separate dorms 🙁 But the retreat center was in the piney woods around Huntsville, so at least there was a lot of beautiful scenery.
The Remodeling Journals: Kitchen Floors are in the Home Stretch!
We are both incredibly sore from this week end. We spent the whole time working on the kitchen floor, but it is now covered in beautiful blue tile! We need to do a few touch ups and then lay down the grout, but most of the work is done! I will post some pics on the house page today when I get a chance.
The Remodeling Journals: Seven Layers of Floor Make One Long Project
We got to finally get some more work done on our house – the kitchen floor! We had to remove a couple of layers first – 2 layers of linoleum, 1 layer of fiber-wood, and 1 layer of tile – to get to the sub floor. The tile was this really old tile that look like an orange topographic map. Today we will start laying down some tile. We also installed an electric doggie fence that is doing a great job keep our puppy from escaping!
