Project 1:
Finding My Consulting Niche

  1. What clusters of skills do you have?

My skills seem to “cluster” in the teaching area. Most of my experience has been with education in some way, so all of my jobs have seemed to have that as a focal point. Teaching skills can be used in many different ways – writing curriculum, management, leadership, designing instruction, and of course training, to name a few. I know that I also have a huge cluster of skills around anything dealing with computers and the Internet, especially with the delivery of online instruction. I seem to be getting a range of skills with preparing online instruction – from design to implementation to evaluating and revising. My experience with the actual teaching of online classes is limited, but that is hopefully where I can bring in my experience as a teacher.

  2. How can you tie them to what you like to do?

I like to design online classes, so I feel that I am getting a good overview of what I would like to do. I would also like to teach about educational technology, so these skills also tie into what I would like to do. I will need to grow and gain more experience in these areas, but that will come with time and effort.

  3. How can you describe those clusters of skills in one or two sentences?

I have experience with all stages of designing and delivering online content. I can effectively use these skills to teach others about the online learning experience.
