Instructional Goal with Performance Context

Goal: Students will create alternative media messages to analyze and counteract inappropriate messages.

Given an analysis of false advertisements (CN), learners will be able to create an alternate, truthful message (B). They will create ideas and submit them to the teacher on a discussion board. (CR).

1.  Review analyzed messages

Given a completed analysis of false online messages (CN), learners will be able to determine which message they will create an alternate for (B).  The learner will submit this choice to the instructor (CR).

2. Submit message for approval Given a choice of a message to create an alternate message for (CN), learners will be able to submit these choices to the instructor for feedback (B).  The learner will revise their choice based on instructor feedback (CR).

3.  Create alternate message

Given a false Internet-based message on drugs or alcohol (CN), learners will be able to create a message that exposes the truth about this message (B).  The learner will submit this choice to the instructor (CR).

4.  Submit message

Given a discussion board tool (CN), learners will be able to submit their alternative message to the teacher (B).  The learner will successfully submit the idea to the discussion board (CR).

5.  Revise message as needed.

Given feedback from the instructor (CN), learners will be able to revise their alternate message as needed (B).  The learner will successfully incorporate the instructor’s feedback into the revised message (CR).
