Before the Lesson:
You will also need to prepare a short short presentation on how nutrition can affect quality of life. Also, be prepared to answer questions related to lesson content.

Instructional Steps:
1. Presentation on how nutrition can affect quality of life
2. Search for facts – learners will search the FDA web site, and other web sites, for facts about nutrition.
3. Find appropriate sites – learners will select only sites that are appropriate.
4. Record facts – learners will record the facts that they find.
5. Document information about nutrition and quality of life – learners will record facts that they gain as they conduct the web search
6.  All information from this lesson will be recorded in a Moodle blog tool.

Overview:

Pre-instructional Activities:
The lesson will begin with a motivational activity to gain the learner’s interest.  The activity will begin with a short presentation on how nutrition can affect quality of life.

Content Presentation:
After the learners are registered for the class, the rest of the activity is self-guided.  Questions about Internet searches or the appropriateness of sites found need to be directed back to the online previous lessons.

Learner Participation:
The learner will guide themselves through web searches for the proper information.  Learners will be responsible for recording facts that they need as they conduct the search.  Learners are also responsible for going through the lessons and activities online.

Assessment:
The learner will demonstrate to the instructor that he/she is successful by completing all required elements on the Lesson 5 grading rubric.

Post-Instructional Activities
The information from this lesson will be helpful in the next lesson.
