Topology and Architecture Justification:
I will be using a peer-to-peer network with bus topology. The modem will also be a route, and will be connected to the desktop computer by a CAT 5 cable. The laptop computer will be connected wirelessly. Since the router/modem will be able to provide wireless connectivity to anyone within range, the router/modem will be configured to only allow authorized computers to have network access. The network will be called HOMEOFFICE. To ensure security and connectivity the MAC Addresses of all network computers will be recorded into the modem/router. The desktop PC will automatically connect to the network. The laptop PC computer will have to be configured using the wireless adapter properties.

The printer will be connected to the desktop PC and will be shared so that anyone in the network can print. The scanner will also be connected to the desktop PC and made available to the network.

The network hardware I will purchase will be the AT&T/Yahoo home network kit. This kit comes with the modem/router, phone line filters, and Ethernet cables.
